Shape prunning
The cut of formation will be paramount during the first years following the planting of a cedar hedge. This is in the cutting of the new reshoots located on the sides of the hedge to stimulate the growth of the tree.
This will give the hedge a uniform width and encourage its upwards. When the hedge has reached the desired height, the size of the top reshoots will mean the start of the maintenance size.
Maintenance trim
The maintenance size will take place when the Cedar hedge has reached the desired size. This consists of trimming the sides as well as the top of the hedge in order to guarantee us a control on the cedars.
This type of trimming assures us that the tree will not take disproportionate proportions. Indeed, a hedge will tend to grow one foot in width and height and this every year. An annual maintenance size also allows the owner to minimize long-term maintenance costs.
Folding
A planing size is normally carried out as a result of the loss of control of the proportions of a cedar hedge. This cut consist of cutting down the hedge by several feet in order to bring it back to a desired height.
